Malta Wheelchair Dance sport Association

The Malta Wheelchair Dancesport Association is all about empowering wheelchair users through dance, making everyone feel included and confident. With The Melita Foundation’s support, the biannual Malta Open Dance Spectacular is a global magnet for inclusivity and tourism.

Since 2002, the Malta Wheelchair Dancesport Association has been enabling folks with special needs, especially wheelchair users, to dance their hearts out, whether socially or competitively. They’ve showcased talent worldwide, even starring in films and BBC shows, all while challenging perceptions of disability. Offering free lessons and prioritizing fun and camaraderie over competition, they foster confidence, friendship, and understanding. Financial support lets dancers shine on international stages, embodying true sportsmanship. This initiative syncs perfectly with The Melita Foundation’s vision of an inclusive world where everyone can fully participate.

Making a difference together

Since starting in 2020, The Melita Foundation has backed many projects run by different groups and backgrounds. From local STEM skills for school kids in the Three Cities to global stuff like planting trees, ESG awareness, teaching maritime law and conservation and ensuring our heritage is well taken care of.
