12 bird nest boxes are being placed across Malta’s Eastern Region, giving local birds like the Spotted Flycatcher and Swift a safe place to nest. With support from The Melita Foundation, cameras will be installed in some boxes, offering a unique glimpse into their world.
Giving kids a fun, hands-on way to learn about nature while creating safe spaces for our local birds! Children and Scouts will bring these nest boxes to life through creative painting workshops, fostering teamwork, ownership, and a deeper love for nature. The cameras installed will give a glimpse to the public to follow the birds’ journey and learn more about them. A project that connects people, nature, and education one nest at a time!
Since starting in 2020, The Melita Foundation has backed many projects run by different groups and backgrounds. From local STEM skills for school kids in the Three Cities to global stuff like planting trees, ESG awareness, teaching maritime law and conservation and ensuring our heritage is well taken care of.
